Questions, Symbols, and Observations
Always the old man wishes for the boy to be by his side. Does he think of him as friend or more of family like a son? Another thing I wonder is why did he stop dreaming of his wife and what happened to her? I have a lot of questions but very little answers. Why did the old man become a fisherman? and Why is he born to do it? Did it run in his family? What about his father?
Another thing that just seemed to jump out at me was;
“The fish is my friend too,” he said aloud. “I have never seen or heard of such a fish. But I must kill him. I’m glad we do not have to try to kill the stars.”(75)
Why is he always saying the fish is his friend even if he has to kill him? And why compair it to the stars, moon and sun. I have so many questions and very few answers.
Me too. Especially about all those moon and star comments.
